What state has the most pedestrian deaths in the United States?

New York ranked #4 with 2,534 deaths in that period.
Florida and Texas ranked #2 and #3 respectively with 5,615 and 5,225 deaths each over the eight year period.
What states were the safest?
Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota, South Dakota, the District of Columbia, and Alaska all had under 100 pedestrian fatalities over that period.
In New York, each year approximately 282 people die in pedestrian accidents.
