Cayuga County has hired its next emergency management director. However, it will be on the hunt for a new finance director.
Riley Shurtleff, a Cayuga County native and Alaska resident, is filling the post being left by Dale Currier, who is retiring. Shurtleff has been working as fire chief and operations coordinator for Cooper Landing Emergency Services Inc., according to The Citizen.
He’s expected to start in mid-October.
Now though, the County will be searching for a new finance director. As lawmakers learned this week that Mary Beth Lesson, who has been in the role, accepted an offer to be comptroller at Cayuga Community College.
Officials in Cayuga County hope the process to find a replacement is a smooth one because the Legislature is moving into budget season.
