Officials with the New York State Police Benevolent Association say eight officers were injured after two inmates attacked staff on August 10.
They say while escorting an inmate from the mess hall, one of the officers was attacked by the inmate being transported. That’s when a second inmate stabbed an officer who tried to stop the inmate from approaching staff.
Six of those injured had to be taken to Auburn Community Hospital for treatment.
One had a broken nose, another had a puncture wound, and a third had a concussion.
Both inmates were transported to Five Points Correctional Facility. A makeshift weapon was found inside the inmates’ cell after the attacks.
