On Saturday around 5 p.m. officers responded to a theft that happened on West State Street in the city of Ithaca.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim, who was also the employee of the restaurant, where the incident took place. The victim said prior to calling police an unidentified male entered the restaurant and asked for a glass of water.
The employee retrieved the water and provided it to the person who exited in an unknown direction.
That’s when the victim said she noticed her wallet, which contained credit and debit cards, as well as money, were missing from her purse.
She called police, who responded and began an investigation.
The suspect was described as an African American male wearing a white baseball hat, red hooded sweatshirt, and plaid shorts.
