Mets prospects Brett Baty, Jose Butto promoted to Triple-A Syracuse

Two New York Mets prospects were promoted from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

No. 2 prospect Brett Baty and No. 12 prospect Jose Butto will join the Syracuse Mets on Tuesday night for the series opener against the Buffalo Bisons at NBT Bank Stadium.

In 89 games at Double-A, Baty hit .312 with 59 RBIs, 19 home runs, 22 doubles, and a .950 on-base plus slugging percentage. The Mets drafted the 22-year-old in the first round (12th overall) of the 2019 amateur entry draft.

In 20 appearances with Binghamton, Butto was 6-5 with a 4.00 ERA in 92 1/3 innings pitched with 108 strikeouts. The 24-year-old signed with the Mets as an international free agent on June 2, 2017.

With Batys promotion to Syracuse, the Triple-A Mets now have three of New York’s top five prospects and five of the Mets’ eight-best prospects, according to MLB Pipeline: Francisco Alvarez (No. 1), Brett Baty (No. 2), Mark Vientos (No. 5), Khalil Lee (No. 7), Nick Plummer (No. 8).
