Who won that massive $1.3 billion Mega Millions lottery jackpot over the weekend?
The answer to that question probably lies in another, similar question posed in 2018. That’s when a lucky lottery player won the largest-ever Mega Millions jackpot worth $1.537 billion.
They weren’t ever identified. See, the law makes it legal for people who win more than $250,000 to prevent their identities from being shared publicly.
But that’s not the case everywhere.
Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Wyoming all have laws in place that allow big winners to remain anonymous.
No one has come forward to claim Saturday’s prize, but lottery officials say the winning numbers 13-36-45-57-67 and 14 were printed on a ticket sold in Illinois.
There were smaller winning tickets sold elsewhere.
