Rochester Red Wings fall to SWB RailRiders in series opener

The Rochester Red Wings (47-47) fell to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (46-48), 12-5, in the series opener on Tuesday night at Frontier Field.

Franklyn Kilome started on the hill for Rochester and allowed four runs on six hits over three innings while walking one and striking out six.

Joey Meneses crushed his 20th home run of the season for the Red Wings in the bottom of the third.


Rochester plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth. Ildemaro Vargas drove in a run with an RBI double to left. Later in the inning, Meneses collected his third RBI of the game with a groundout.

Vargas brought home another run in the bottom of the fifth with a run-scoring single to center.

Carson Teel surrendered six runs in relief for the Red Wings and Matt Brill gave up two.

The Red Wings will try to bounce back on Tuesday with Cade Cavalli on the mound. The first pitch is slated for 6:05 p.m.
