The Great New York State Fair is set to begin in a matter of weeks, but that doesn’t mean everything is ready to roll.
Organizers say they have a lot to do before fairgoers can assemble in the tens-of-thousands at the site outside Syracuse.
Why? The same reason a lot of businesses and organizations are struggling right now.
They need hundreds of workers to make the event possible.
Guest relations, security, safety, and transportation are the biggest areas where officials say they need help.
“It’s a competitive market out there,” interim director Sean Hennessy said. “Everyone is looking for staff at the moment and you know we hire roughly 700-800 people for the Great New York State Fair.”
The fair runs from August 24 to September 5.
