Inflation has reached a 40 year high and gas prices are over $5 per gallon in most states across the US. Americans are asking for a gas stimulus to help cover the costs.
The idea of sending out more money hasn’t sat well with everybody. This due partly to the IRS running low on funds after the last stimulus payments. But, the Biden Administration is considering the options.
Who proposed the Gas Rebate Act of 2022?
Three senators Mike Thompson, John Larson, and Lauren Underwood have introduced the Gas Rebate Act 0f 2022.
The Act intends to address high gas prices by by sending Americans an energy rebate of $100 per month and $100 for each dependent for the remainder of 2022. This would also go into effect for any month that the national average for a price of a gallon of gas is over $4.00.
What is the eligibility criteria?
People earning less than $75,000 will be eligible for the $100 rebate. Joint filers making less than $150,000 will also be eligible.
