California plans to send $200 per taxpayer and each dependent. However, there are income limits. Taxpayers who file as single must make less than $125,000 annually to qualify. For joint-filing households, the income limit is double that.
Governor Newson wants to provide a gas rebate. He wants to grant California residents $400 per vehicle with a 2 car maximum.
Chief deputy director of the Department of Finance, Erika Li, has expressed concern over the plan. Li has said their priority is to find a relief program that “that moves with speed and benefits as many Californians as possible.”
