AAA: New York’s cap on gas tax helps brings prices down modestly, but will it get worse?

The average price of a gallon of gas is coming down in New York.

At least a little bit.

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of gas continues rising. It’s up to $4.87, which is 25 cents higher than a week ago. It’s more than a $1.80 higher than a year ago.

However, the state’s average gas price sits at $4.88, which is down 5 cents from what it was last week.

As state and local leaders suspend gas taxes in New York- prices have begun dropping modestly.

In the Rochester area, the average price of gas is down 10 cents per gallon. In Syracuse, it’s down 12 cents per gallon.

AAA says oil prices are around $120 per barrel. Crude prices have been increasing amid supply concerns from an EU ban on Russian oil imports.
