Amerks’ season ends with loss to Laval in triple OT

The Rochester Americans had their season come to an end on Wednesday night at the Blue Cross Arena with a 6-5 loss to the Laval Rocket in triple overtime in Game 3 of the best-of-five North Division Finals.

Laval completed a three-game sweep of Rochester and will face either Charlotte or Springfield in the next round.

Working on a power play following a delay of game penalty against the Amerks, former Amerk Jean-Sébastien Dea wristed a shot that beat Aaron Dell at 1:51 of the third OT period to give the Rocket the victory.

JJ Peterka and Brett Murray scored twice for Rochester, while Mark Jankowski also found the back of the net. Dell stopped 54-of-60 shots and made huge saves throughout the game to keep the Amerks in it.

Sébastien Dea tallied twice for Laval, while Brandon Gignac, Danick Martel, Jesse Ylönen, and Xavier Ouellet also netted goals. Cayden Primeau turned aside 34-of-39 shots.

Rochester finished 1-for-6 on the power play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.
