A shipment of baby formula has reached the United States.
But how many babies will it feed?

How many bottles can be made with this shipment?
The baby formula shipment that landed has about 78,000 pounds of Nestle Health Science Alfamino Infant and Alfamino Junior formula. This shipment is enough to fill about half a million bottles.
The package of formula that was recently delivered was purchased from Europe and there is more on the way. Nearly 114 pallets of Gerber Good Start Extensive HA formula should also be arriving in the US soon.
Even with the two shipments, it won’t be enough to feed all the children who need formula regularly.
The shortage can be felt nationwide. Parents have reported driving to stores 2 or more hours away just to find a store with formula in stock. As it comes in, it goes to grocery stores last. Formula is distributed based on need in a specific order: hospitals, pharmacies, doctor’s offices, and then grocery stores.
The FDA has eased formula regulations in order to get it imported quickly. With demand so high and stock low, be prepared to pay higher prices when it is back on the shelves.
