The Rochester Americans fell to the Laval Rocket, 6-1, in Game 1 of the North Division Finals on Sunday night at Place Bell Arena.
JJ Peterka netted Rochester’s only goal, his fifth of the playoffs. Aaron Dell stopped 16-of-20 shots before being replaced by Michael Houser, who turned aside 16-of-18.
Danick Martel scored four of Laval’s six goals. Cedric Paquette and Nate Schnarr also found the back of the net while Cayden Primeau made 31 saves.
Rochester finished 0-for-4 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill. The Rocket outshot the Amerks, 38-32.
Game 2 of the best-of-five series is set for Monday. The puck will drop at 7 p.m.
