The Syracuse Orange women’s lacrosse team hung on and defeated the Fairfield Stags, 12-11, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday evening at Sherrerd Field in Princeton, New Jersey.
Olivia Adamson scored a career-high five goals and finished with a career-best six points to lead the Orange. Meaghan Tyrrell recorded a hat trick and had four points. Tyrrell also became the sixth player in program history to record 300 career points.
Goalkeeper Kimber Hower made seven saves for Syracuse.
