The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office says during the early-morning hours on Wednesday deputies were dispatched to a residence in the Town of Ira following a motor vehicle incident.
Tyler W. Noxon had returned a vehicle with significant damage to its passenger side but refused to explain the circumstances to the vehicle’s owner. Subsequent investigation revealed that Noxon had driven off the roadway on Humphrey Road near State Route 176, causing the damage.
Upon serving Noxon a traffic citation for moving unsafely from his lane, he reacted violently. The confrontation escalated when Noxon struck a deputy with a closed fist to the head, leading to further aggression as he resisted arrest. Noxon was subsequently charged with assault in the second degree, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration.
Noxon was arraigned later that day and is being held on a $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. The injured deputy received treatment at Auburn Hospital and was released.
