Investigators in Wayne County say two people are facing charges after a child neglect investigation spanning two counties.
On April 28 deputies found four small children traveling toward State Route 104 before 8 a.m. The kids appeared to lack basic hygiene and were not clean, according to investigators.
They said the children were unsupervised at the time of being found.
Steven J. Senquiz, 53, and Trisha A. Wallingsford, 29, both of Victory were charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Investigators found several referrals to Cayuga County CPS since the beginning of the school year alleging that Wallingford failed to provide food, clean clothes, proper hygiene, supervision, and a safe living environment for her four children.
Further investigation determined that the kids were consistently coming to school with dirty clothing, lack of hygiene, visible marks and bruises, and complaints of hunger and not being fed.
The children are now living with outside family members and deputies say the district helped collect clothing and other items for the children.
