UBI: States accepting UBI applications and one $1,400 stimulus payment

There are programs available to thousands of Americans known as UBI programs that would pay them recurring payments.

There is also a state offering a one time payment worth up to $1,400 like the stimulus payment.


Which areas are offering UBI or stimulus payments?

Stimulus payments

Johnson County, Iowa is offering a one time payment worth $1,400.

This payment will go to 2,500 residents.

Applications open on April 25, 2022.


Stimulus: $850 stimulus checks will go to thousands of Americans

This is for people who struggled during the pandemic.

In order to qualify, you need to be struggling with food or housing, job loss, or you did not get stimulus payments.

Those on food stamps or SSI may also qualify.

Income thresholds are $45,370 or below for one person, $51,870 for two, or $64,805 for four.


UBI: Some could see $24,000 in payments for two years from new program

UBI programs

Baltimore, Maryland has a program paying residents $1,000.

The program will give these payments once per month for 24 months to 200 young parents.

They need to meet the following criteria

  • Ages 18-24
  • Parents or guardians
  • Full or partial responsibility for caring for the child
  • Income below 300% of the federal poverty level

Applications open May 2 and close May 9, 2022.


Chicago is offering a UBI program that will pay residents $500.

5,000 low income households will see monthly payments for one year.

Qualifying applicants must be 18 or older, suffered hardship from the pandemic, and have income at or below 250% of the federal poverty line.


Gas Stimulus: $150 gas cards could soon be available

Another program in Chicago is the $150 gas card program.

The program still needs approval, but will give residents who are low income struggling with transportation $150 toward gas.

The cards are being targeted toward low income neighborhoods that need it the most.
