Ovid Street temporarily closed after Friday afternoon kitchen fire in Seneca Falls

Police say there were no injuries reported after a structure fire on Friday.

Around 4:52 p.m. Seneca County 911 received a report of a residential structure fire at 92 Ovid Street.

Police responded along with the Seneca Falls Fire Department. Mutual aid was called in from Waterloo, Fayette, and Aurelius.


Upon arrival firefighters found that the fire was contained to the kitchen area. It was put out and firefighters checked the surrounding parts of the home for additional fire.

An investigation team was quickly called to the scene, and at this point- the investigation into it remains active.

No injuries were reported, but Ovid Street was shut down for around 35 minutes while crews were on-scene.

Police say the occupants were not displaced.
