The Rochester Americans fell to the Utica Comets, 3-2, in overtime on Friday night at the Adirondack Bank Center.
Rochester scored a late third-period goal to tie the game at two and force overtime. However, Utica scored just 1:11 into the extra period to secure the victory.
JJ Peterka and Sean Malone scored for the Amerks while Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen turned aside 32-of-35 shots.
Ryan Schmelzer, Alexander Holtz and Reilly Walsh tallied for Utica while Nico Daws stopped 26-of-28 shots.
Rochester finished 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The Comets outshot the Amerks, 35-28.
Rochester will head to Cleveland to take on the Monsters on Saturday at 5:05 p.m.
