UBI: Some could see $24,000 in payments for two years from new program

A new UBI program is starting that will give 200 low income residents in the city of Baltimore $1,000 per month.

This new program will provide the monthly payments for 24 months.

The program is partnering with CASH Campaign of Maryland, a nonprofit that helps low income residents.

The plan was initially announced in February of 2021 by Baltimore City Mayor, Brandon Scott.


 

Eligibility for the UBI program in Baltimore

In order to be eligible for this program, you need to meet certain criteria first.

This includes

  • Being between 18 and 24 years old
  • Be parents or guardians
  • Be partially or fully responsible for caring for your child
  • Your income needs to be at or below 300% of the federal poverty line

Other UBI programs

UBI programs have really taken off since the pandemic began, helping millions of struggling Americans.

Ann Arbor, Michigan just approved a UBI program to help 100 low income families.


These families will see $500 monthly payments for three years.

5,000 people in Chicago can start to apply for $500 monthly payments on April 25, 2022.

Austin, Texas is sending $1,000 per month to 85 people.
