Yankees recall OF Tim Locastro from Triple-A Scranton

The New York Yankees made a roster move prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Baltimore Orioles.

The team recalled outfielder Tim Locastro from the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and optioned left-handed reliever JP Sears to Triple-A.

This means the Yankees will now have a four-man bench and will carry 15 pitchers, 10 of them in the bullpen.

Locastro, 29, appeared in nine games with New York last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Locastro is in Sunday’s starting lineup, batting ninth and playing left field.

Sears, 26, made his Major League debut on April 13 against the Toronto Blue Jays and tossed a scoreless inning. He also three a scoreless inning in Saturday’s 5-2 win over the Orioles and picked up his first Major League win.
