In what was a very chippy game, the Rochester Americans fell to the Belleville Senators, 2-1, on Friday night at the Blue Cross Arena.
Belleville’s Viktor Sokolov was awarded a penalty shot in the first period and put it in the back of the net to give the Senator’s an early 1-0 lead.
After nobody scored in the second period, Edgor Sokolov opened the third with a power-play goal to give Belleville a 2-0 lead. Later in the period, Brandon Biro notched a power-play goal to put Rochester on the board. However, the Amerks couldn’t generate anymore offense despite having several scoring chances.
Rochester finished 1-for-7 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 25-of-27 shots in the loss while Filip Gustavsson turned aside 28-of-29 shots in the win.
The Amerks will try to bounce back on Saturday night when they host the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:05 p.m.
