The Rochester Americans fell apart in the third period as they allowed four goals and were defeated by the Laval Rocket, 6-2, on Wednesday night at Place Bell.
Sean Malone and Michael Mersch scored for Rochester while Aaron Dell stopped 30-of-35 shots.
Joel Teasdale found the back of the net twice for Laval while Cedric Paquette, Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Jean-Sebastien Dea and Jean-Christophe Beaudin also tallied. Cayden Primeau turned aside 29-of-31 shots to earn the win.
Rochester finished 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-5 on the penalty kill.
The two teams will meet again on Friday night at the same place. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m.
