A new bill passed in the state of Georgia will be giving out a tax rebate to residents thanks to a surplus in the budget.
This is happening thanks to Governor Brian Kemp after he signed House Bill 1302.
The bill gives a one time tax rebate for residents who filed taxes in 2020 and 2021.
Kemp wants the extra money that the government doesn’t need to go back into the pockets of taxpayers.
$300 going to thousands of families
How much is the tax rebate and when can Georgians expect it?
The amounts range from $250 to $500.
Single filers can expect checks worth $250, head of household can expect $375, and joint filers will see $500.
The money is being sent to residents when they file their taxes for the 2021 tax year.
The deadline to file taxes this year is April 18, 2022.
To get the full refund you need to have been a full time resident of Georgia.
If you file a part-year tax return then your rebate will be proportional.
