JJ Peterka and Sean Malone each scored twice for the Amerks while Arttu Ruotsalainen and Mark Jankowski also tallied.
Aaron Dell turned aside 36-of-38 shots to earn the win.
Cole Cassels and Roman Ahcan found the back of the net for Cleveland.
Jet Greaves made 23 saves for the Monsters in the loss.
Rochester finished 0-for-4 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
