The Syracuse Crunch allowed a late game-tying goal in the third period and eventually fell to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, 4-3, in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Mohegan Sun Arena.
Crunch goaltender Hugo Alnefelt stopped 36-of-40 shots in the loss.
Syracuse went 0-for-2 on the power play and finished 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.
All three of the Crunch goals came in the third period. Gage Goncalves, Gabriel Fortier and Remi Eli each netted a goal.
Radim Zohorna, Drew O’Connor, Valtteri Puustinen and Taylor Fedun scored for the Penguins.
Alex D’Orio turned aside 24-of-27 shots to earn the victory for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Syracuse gets a few days off before they travel to Rochester on Wednesday to face the Amerks. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
