The Rochester Americans allowed a late game-tying goal in the third period and fell to the Providence Bruins, 3-2, in a shootout on Friday night at Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
Amerks goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 23-of-25 shots. Troy Grosenick turned aside 24-of-26 shots for the Bruins.
Both teams were unable to capitalize on their power play opportunities as Rochester went 0-for-4 and Providence finished 0-for-6.
Brett Murray and Ethan Prow scored for the Amerks.
Justin Brazeau and Chris Wagner tallied for the Bruins. Brazeau and Jesper Froden scored the shootout goals.
The Amerks are back in action on Saturday when they take on the Hartford Wolf Pack at XL Center. Face-off is slated for 7 p.m.
