Sabres recall Mattias Samuelsson from Rochester, assign Casey Fitzgerald to taxi squad

The Buffalo Sabres have recalled defensemen Mattias Samuelsson from the Rochester Americans and reassigned defenseman Casey Fitzgerald to the taxi squad, the team announced Monday.

The Sabres host the Detroit Red Wings at KeyBank Center at 1 p.m. Head coach Don Granato announced Sunday that defenseman Jacob Bryson will likely miss the next two games with an upper-body injury.


Samuelsson, 21, made his NHL debut and played 12 games with the Sabres last season. He has 15 points (2+13) in 20 games with the Amerks this season.

Fitzgerald, 24, tallied an assist in his NHL debut on Dec. 17. He has played four games with the Sabres.
