The New York Yankees optioned outfielder Jasson Domínguez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre late Thursday night, shortly after he committed a costly defensive error during New York’s 10-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies.
Domínguez’s demotion came following an eighth-inning misplay in right field. After Adael Amador singled off Luis Gil, Domínguez failed to cleanly handle the ball on a backhanded attempt, allowing Zac Veen to advance all the way home from first base.
The error was Domínguez’s third of the season and his second defensive miscue in three games. He was also charged with an error Sunday during the Yankees’ series against the San Diego Padres.
Domínguez has appeared in 57 games for New York this season, batting .225 with a .267 on-base percentage and a .368 slugging percentage. He has recorded 12 doubles, six home runs and 14 runs batted in during his time in the major leagues.

New York promoted right-handed pitcher Bradley Hanner to the roster. The 27-year-old made his big-league debut earlier this season and has appeared in three games.
Hanner has been particularly effective at Triple-A, posting a 2.44 earned run average in 45 relief appearances this season.
