Marion man faces DWI, other charges after crash on Route 21

The Wayne County Office of the Sheriff reports the arrest of Luis A. Amaro-Arroyo, age 54, of Walworth Marion Road in the Town of Marion following a motor vehicle crash on State Route 21 in the Town of Palmyra.


It was reported that a vehicle had left the road along State Route 21 in the Town of Palmyra. Mr. Amaro-Arroyo claimed that he hit a patch of black ice which caused him to lose control of his vehicle and travel off of the road. Mr. Amaro-Arroyo refused field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. Mr. Amaro-Arroyo was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office where he submitted to a chemical test which a produced a BAC of .22 %. Mr. Amaro-Arroyo was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Driving with a .08% or Greater BAC, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a .18% or Greater BAC, Failure to Keep Right, Moving from lane Unsafely and Speed not reasonable and Prudent.

Mr. Amaro-Arroyo was processed at the Sheriff’s Office and released on appearance tickets. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Palmyra Court at a later date and time to answer to the charges.
