As Christmas approaches, many Americans are fine tuning their budgets to buy gifts and entertain guests.
Some people will be lucky enough to receive stimulus payments before the holiday arrives.
These payments will be either a one time stimulus payment or universal basic income, which is a recurring payment.
Here are the states and cities sending eligible residents money before Christmas
California is in the middle of sending out their Golden State Stimulus II checks.
Residents that make less than $75,000 and filed their taxes by Oct. 15 are eligible to receive these payments.
Florida is sending out $1,000 payments to teachers and first responders this month.
175,000 teachers and 3,600 principals will benefit from this.
Maine started sending over 500,000 residents checks worth $285 in Nov. if they worked through the pandemic and made less that $75,000 single or $150,000 married.

Maryland gave eligible families $500 checks and individuals $300 checks under the RELIEF Act.
422,531 residents qualified and 98% of them got their payment in Feb.
7,811 payments were returned.

Those that qualify also claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit.
Seattle is giving low income residents up to $3,000 from the Seattle Relief Fund.
The deadline was Nov. 15.
Applicants must be 18 and older and have an income under $40,500 for an individual or $57,850 for a family of four.
Columbia started a universal basic income pilot program for young, low income fathers in Sept.
Every month they will have $500 payments loaded onto a debit card provided by the Columbia Life Improvement Monetary Boost program.
This will help provide a better understanding of guaranteed income addressing poverty, inequity, and financial instability.
Chicago started a UBI pilot program to give randomly chosen families making under $35,000 per year $500 per month.
New Orleans has started a financial literacy program for teens and young adults.

Each month for ten months they will get $350 per month to help learn to manage money using banking.
Pittsburgh will use their COVID-19 funds to help 200 low income families with $500 payments per month for two years.
