Troopers say a Syracuse man was taken into custody on a number of charges after an attempted armed robbery and pursuit that ended on the Thruway.
State police attempted to stop a vehicle wanted for what was reported as a robbery at knifepoint in the town of Mentz when the operator refused to comply.
Police say the driver fled and entered the Thruway, before eventually stopping and being taken into custody.
After further investigation Lamont Bland, 53, of Syracuse, who was identified as the driver, was charged with attempted rape, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful fleeing, and other traffic violations.
State police are continuing the investigation and additional charges are pending.
