One state wants to give single filers $200 before the holidays

Single taxpayers are set to possibly receive a $200 stimulus check if legislation is passed by the House of Representatives.

The Republicans in the house want to provide single filers making less than $75,000 with a $200 payment.

Married filers must make less than $150,000 in order to receive $400.

The funding for this proposal would come from money given to the state under the American Rescue Plan.

The bill still needs approval, but lawmakers are hoping to lend a helping hand to residents in the form of an extra week of groceries or bills.

When the bill passes more details will be released.

Illinois is one of many states putting in the effort to help support their struggling residents following the pandemic.

What other states are giving residents stimulus payments?

Maine recently decided to send $285 payments to over 500,000 workers that worked through the pandemic.

Arizona is offering $2,000 to return to work as long as they make under $77,000 and don’t receive unemployment benefits. They must have returned between May 13 and Sept. 6 of this year.

Connecticut is paying $1,000 to residents returning to work between May 30 and Dec. 31, 2021.

California is in the middle of sending their Golden State Stimulus II checks and just sent 803,000 this week.

They’re worth between $600 and $1,100. The last batch should be received by Jan. 11, 2022.
