The Onondaga County Executive’s Office announced Friday that a 5 mph speed limit and no wake zone order on Skaneateles Lake will remain in place through Labor Day Weekend.
The order began Aug. 24 due to the record high rainfall to protect the shorelines and minimize other damage.
To help bring the lake back to normal levels, the City of Syracuse has been releasing 180 million gallons of water per day.
The levels are 6-12 inches higher than what they normally are at this time of the year.
Violating the order can result in a $250 fine and it applies to the entire lake.
