Victim airlifted after shooting at Huron campground: Webster man charged with felony assault, illegal possession of weapon

State police say an investigation is active after a shooting at a Wayne County campground last week.

The latest update from New York State Police indicated that the incident happened on August 5 a little before 8 p.m. at the Lake Bluff Campground in Huron.

An adult male victim was reportedly shot and airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigation led to the arrest of Ryan Ange, 25, of Webster on two charges including felony first-degree assault and felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

It’s alleged that Ange was involved in a confrontation with the victim- who was known to him- and used an illegally possessed firearm to shoot him.

Ange was processed and held at the Wayne County Jail. State Police said after that it was an isolated incident. However, anyone with information should call 585-398-4100.
