Using fake vaccine cards could carry a 5 year prison sentence or $5,000 fine, warns Department of Justice

The FBI is warning people of the potential consequences of fake vaccination card use.

In July it was announced by the Department of Justice that a naturopathic doctor had been arrested in California after giving patients fake vaccine cards and homeopathic care claiming it would prevent contracting Covid-19.

The crime is fraudulently using the official seal of a United States agency, in this case the CDC logo. The crime carries a potential 5 years in prison or $5,000 fine and is a violation of federal law.

Colleges are also worrying as the access to fake vaccine cards grows, saying a student obtaining one could cause an outbreak on campus.

The cards are being sold on the dark web for as much as $473.
