Mayor Billy Barlow says that the City of Oswego is getting ready to file a lawsuit against the Port Authority due to a construction project that obstructs the city’s waterfront views.
A 180-foot grain storage facility being built has received criticism for blocking views of the iconic lighthouse from local leaders and community members.
The lawsuit accuses the Port Authority of not receiving the proper approval of the project before starting it. It requests a temporary restraining order to stop construction while the case moves forward.
The project has been temporarily stopped while Port Authority discussed it with engineers and the board was supposed to decide whether to resume the construction by the end of the week. No decision has been announced.
