An audit by the state left them critical of how the town of Wolcott manages its finances.
The criticism was toward the town board not having a clear understanding of laws that govern the financing of tax bases, as well as not understanding the finances for the closed landfill.
The audit revealed that the board didn’t treat taxpayers equitably when budgeting for allocating certain revenues and expenditures in the town-wide and town-outside-village general funds.
