Deputies say a 16-year-old from Nichols was killed in a single-car crash in the town of Candor on Monday.

It happened around 10 p.m., according to deputies, who noted that a 2003 Toyota Camry was traveling south on Park Settlement Road when it went off the west side, overturned, and came to rest on its roof.

The driver, identified as Jacob Rogers, 16, of Nichols died at the scene.

The only passenger in the vehicle was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to WENY-TV.

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Owego Police Department, New York State Police, Candor Fire Department, Weltonville Fire Department, Candor E.M.S., Guthrie Air-Med and Tioga County Hazardous Material Response Team.

The crash remains under investigation.
