Canada and the United States will continue only allowing limited border crossings for essential travel moving forward.
The existing non-essential travel ban will remain in-effect until at least January 21st.
The vaccine is expected to roll out this week in the U.S. after receiving FDA approval.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the extension in a tweet.
“To keep Canadians safe, we’ve extended the measures currently in place at the Canada-US border by another 30 days,” he tweeted.
