Yankees’ 10-game winning streak, domination of Red Sox come to an end

In evaluating Deivi García’s first five Major League starts, the Yankees have consistently glowed about a presence that manager Aaron Boone describes as “unflappable.” There will inevitably be days when the right-hander struggles, but they continue to believe that no moment will prove to be too great for him.

García endured the first rough outing of his young career on Sunday, serving up a pair of Michael Chavis homers as the Yankees absorbed a 10-2 loss at Fenway Park. The defeat snapped the Yanks’ season-high winning streak at 10 games and marked Boston’s first victory in 12 tries against New York, dating to last year.

Luke Voit added to his Major League-leading home run total, hitting his 21st in the 9th inning over the Green Monster.

The Yankees’ magic number to secure postseason entry remains at one. They would clinch with a Mariners loss to the Padres on Sunday.
