Cuomo: ‘Not appropriate’ to ban trick-or-treating this Halloween in New York

Trick-or-treating is on! At least that was the message from Governor Andrew Cuomo during an interview with News 12 Long Island.

“I would not ban trick-or-treaters going door-to-door,” Cuomo said during the interview. “I don’t think that’s appropriate. You have neighbors, if you wanna go knock on your neighbor’s door, God bless you. I’m not going to tell you not to. If you want to go on a walk with your child through the neighborhood, I’m not going to tell you you can’t take your child through your neighborhood.”

There was some speculation about how state officials would handle trick-or-treating. Some others worried that there would be a statewide ban on it.

“I’ll give you my advice and guidance and then you will make a decision what you do that night,” Cuomo added.

He noted that it’s up to parents to decide whether trick-or-treating is appropriate for their children.
