Bills beat Jets in season opener, 27-17 (full coverage)

It looked like it was going to be a blowout after the first quarter as the Buffalo Bills trotted out to a quick 14-0 lead.

But a few mistakes by Bills quarterback Josh Allen allowed the Jets to hang around for most of the game before Buffalo put them away in the second half. The Bills won 27-17 but the game was never really close.

Allen was terrific for most of the afternoon. He finished with his first-career 300-yard passing game and had three total touchdowns against a Jets defense that didn’t have any answers. The Bills defense gave up one big play on the day but largely shut down Sam Darnold and the Jets offense. The Bills had 404 total offensive yards compared to just 254 for the Jets.
