Canandaigua is taking a creative approach to celebrating July 4th.
Social distancing guidelines will make it difficult to observe the traditional parade, community picnic, and fireworks display.
Instead, a contest will be held for local residents to decorate their homes. It will encourage residents to get in their vehicles and vote on the best decorated homes.
“In a year when our typical celebrations can not take place, we are still looking for fun ways to engage with our community members,” said John Goodwin, City Manager for the City of Canandaigua. “We feel that this is the best way to show Canandaigua’s spirit, strength, and appreciation for each other, while also keeping safety at the forefront of everything we do.”
