Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck says a Brutus resident was arrested on a scheme to defraud charge following a lengthy investigation.
Robert Fratus Jr., was charged with second-degree scheme to defraud. He’s accused of engaging in an ongoing scheme to defraud numerous people while operating “Robert Fratus Tree Service.”
Schenck says he did so by soliciting tree trimming or tree removal work, collecting down payments for the services, and then failing to complete the work as promised.
In total, Fratus collected nearly $4,000 across multiple townships in Cayuga County. Anyone with information is urged to call Sergeant Robert Franklin at (315) 253-1132.
