Arcadia man coughs on troopers, tells them he has COVID while being arrested in Wayne County

Police say that an Arcadia man was arrested on Thursday shortly before 11 p.m. during a domestic incident, during which he coughed on troopers and claimed to have the coronavirus.

Chad Summers, 37, is accused of getting into a verbal altercation with his girlfriend, which escalated as he punched a hole into a wall next to a sleeping child.

He also broke a stereo and fireplace. While the child was not hurt – Summers was arrested for fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree harassment, and endangering the welfare of a child.

While being arrested, police say Summers began coughing on them, telling the officers he had the coronavirus.

He was additionally charged with obstructing governmental administration and menacing.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
