Deputies: Newark sex offender failed to appear, notify NYS of addresss change

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a 32-year-old sex offender for failing to notify of an address change.

LaQuan A. Whitfield, 32, of Newark was arrested following an investigation into a sex offender registry violation.

As requirement of the New York State Sex Offender Registry, Whitfield is required to notify the sex offender registry of any change of address within ten days and is also required to verify in person with the sex offender registry every 90 days.

He failed to appear for his 90 day appointment and failed to notify the sex offender registry that he moved from his residence on Lockpit Road in the Town of Galen, according to deputies.

Whitfield was subsequently arrested and held at the Wayne County Jail.
