Two Syracuse residents were arrested on a number of charges after a theft and pursuit that happened along a busy stretch of highway in Auburn and Aurelius.

Police say Lorenzo Grainger, 25, and Dennaisha Moody, 22, stole items from Bass Pro Shops at the Fingerlakes Mall, and fled in a vehicle to Clark Street.

The duo headed east, toward the city, and a trooper spotted the vehicle after a police bulletin was issued.

The fleeing vehicle collided with another at the intersection of Columbus and Clark streets, but the operator, identified as Grainger continued until losing control of the vehicle on the Arterial.

He crashed the vehicle into a tree, according to police. They say he wasn’t injured. However, his passenger, who was also charged – suffered minor injuries. She was treated at Auburn Community Hospital.

Grainger was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, petit larceny, criminal possession of an anti security item, unlawful fleeing a police officer and leaving the scene of an accident. He was also charged with other traffic infractions.

Police say Moody was charged with petit larceny.
