Bill would allow New York movie theaters to serve alcohol

Could you soon be able to drink booze while at the movies?

Legislation to allow movie theaters to sell alcohol is gaining some new steam.

As previously reported, the bill had failed to pass through the state’s Assembly Committee.

Right now, Rochester’s Little Theatre does sell alcohol, albeit in its adjacent café.

Public Relations Coordinator Scott Pukos said beer and wine purchases are pretty popular, especially on busy nights. He says, if the current version of the bill passes, it could help theaters big and small, by promoting business in a digital age.

“Being an art house theater, we have to compete with Netflix and people watching movies at home,” Pukos said.
